About Me

Clayton Smith was born and raised in Yuma, Arizona: “The Sunniest Place on Earth.” He left the 118 degree summers to get a degree in Screenwriting at Loyola Marymount University. During the summer of 2015, Clayton studied Irish Theatre and Literature at Trinity University in Dublin and performed at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

Clayton moved to New York City shortly after graduating to pursue a career in stand up comedy. From 2019-2020, he co-produced Live at the Inn and Midnight Confessions, two monthly variety shows at the historic Music Inn World Instruments in the West Village.

Clayton made his theatre debut in July 2019, co-writing, co-producing, and acting in The Cigar Lounge, which debuted at the Brick Theatre’s Unstageable Festival. His second play with collaborator Samuel Neagley, All That Glitters Is Sold, had a sold out run at City Hall Park in Burlington, VT in August 2021. He wrote, produced, and starred in his third play, Not Paul, in July 2022 at the Producer’s Club. In May 2023, he co-produced and understudied in Time Biter - which ran for three weeks at The Players Theatre.
